It is an idea to harmonize lifestyles. Yogalicious Toronto is a recognized opportunity, conceived and created by a local community based non-profit organization, O.N.E. (Only Now Exists). This event brings together restaurant owners, yoga Instructors, delicious and healthy food along with social consciousness, as an annually occurring phenomenon. It happens under the roof of local restaurants in Toronto that have embraced traditional farm-to-table practices while offering delicious cuisine to Torontonians and visitors.
Once a year during the fall, for 4 consecutive weekends, people in Toronto get to experience practicing yoga and eating locally-sourced food with a limited time only menu artfully created exclusively for this event in a communal dining format. The idea is to provide brunch yoga packaged specially for food and yoga connoisseurs. The list of participating restaurants and participating yoga instructors will expand in the following years. It is also an opportunity for yoga instructors from different lineages to provide classes in a non-traditional studio.
Starting Fall 2016, only 15 spots are available each week at a cozy authentic Mexican Restaurant in Liberty Village called Maizal Toronto. This year’s main instructor is Vikram Sainadh—a Yoga Alliance, Sivananda Certified Yoga Instructor—who will teach classical Hatha. It will be an open class suited for all levels while staying true to traditional yoga.
Every year a charitable cause is selected for this event and all proceeds after costs will be used to support this cause. Our 2015 cause was to support a breakfast program for underprivileged children at the Embodiments of Love Academy school in Ebe, Nigeria. $20 raised per participant helped to feed a child at the school for a month. Through this event we raised awareness around healthy living and healthy diet, while connecting ancient traditions and modern cultures in a very cool way.
OUR FEATURED EVENT: GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER?
Last year we raised money for schoolchildren in Nigeria and Yogalicious 2016 is right around the corner.
On August 15th 2016 we, along with our gracious hosts Maizal (an award winning restaurant), have arranged a special fundraising dinner event. We are hoping this will become a pre-Yogalicious tradition in the years to come.
We have a spacial visitor from Ebe, Nigeria. Father Charles Ogada, the founder of the Embodiments of Love Academy school in Nigeria, is here in Toronto to mingle and share some of his incredible stories with us. We will also be presenting Father Charles Ogada with the funds we raised last year to go towards the breakfast program for starving children in Ebe.
Please take this opportunity to join us for a beautiful evening of authentic and traditional Mexican dining. All proceeds after costs will be contributed to the breakfast program in Nigeria. This will also be a sneak preview into Yogalicious 2016!
